Step I. Ask the child:

When you remember old unpleasant event, what picture appears before eyes?
When you remember the longest moment of the incident, what do you think about yourself?

Step II. Beginning of the story

Once upon a time lived-was…
His name was…
He did all the same as everyone…
first he…,
then…,
and then…,
and after that…

Where to start?
  • We begin with a positive situation: “Everything was good…”, we form in child feeling of safety
  • We choose main hero: fairy tale or real?
  • Identification. Main hero has similar features with child, but so that child could freely distance from main hero, name must be different
  • In detail we discuss and draw: what hero sees, hears, feels by touch; what smells he feels, tastes (what favorite treat), bodily sensations (what he feels in stomach, in head…)
  • If it is about too burdensome situation, then story can be told in several versions of different emotional load: first acting figure can be, say, flower – sunflower; after few days, telling this same story, can come closer, choosing already person

Step III. Something happens

Difficult situation – the worst image, the heaviest episode, burdensome thought (“I…”);
description of unpleasant feeling (“Unfortunately, such can happen with child/animal…”)
Once…
Suddenly…

Step IV. What does hero do?

And here…

  • Ask child: What opinion appeared?

Step V. Something goes not so

However…

Step VI. Then…

Then…
Our hero tries to solve problem.
(Act actively, become stronger every day, ask someone for help…)
Ways of solution, way out, active contribution of child, positive feeling, good opinion, that helps to reduce load.
(“I…”)

Step VII. End of story

Finally…
(everything resolved, or not, but hero became stronger, got experience)
New positive state. Strengthening feeling of safety, good mood.
